This is a most prestigious gig!
Bridgewater Hall was built to replace the old Manchester Free Trade Hall, which was the original home of The Hallé Orchestra. They are the orchestra in residence. It is a beautiful new building (1996) seating 2,300, and provides a fitting setting for a Procol Harum + Orchestra + Choir performance.
The long history of the Hallé is very impressive. Having been established over 150 years, they are one of the UK's premier orchestras and one that every conductor wants to work with. Nicholas Dodd will conduct The Hallé on this occasion. This is extremely good news for Procoholics, as he knows and loves the material. He was the conductor when Procol gave their sensational 1996 recital at the Barbican in London.
Bridgewater Hall looks likely to be the only UK date. It will be advertised in national newspapers and will be given national media coverage. It looks likely that the tickets will go on sale 29 November, and they are priced at 26-50, 23-50, and 20-50 pounds.
Thanks and congrats, Diane!
