cautious optimism, knowing that Gary Brooker was injured,
but not knowing – any more than anyone could know – how this would affect
Procol's performance
Graham Ewins, always calm and vigilant at the sound desk
John Magner and Ron Manigley, sorting out settings on Josh's Motif
Johnny tunes Geoff's guitar (he can really play, too ... but he doesn't, in this context)
Gary Brooker on stage: broken ribs not visible, but gross discomfort all-too apparent
Signs of serious alarm along the front row. The gentleman in the
pale jacket, who was wearing a Redhill tee-shirt,
departed somewhat
ungraciously after just a few numbers: the medical nature of Brooker's
predicament had not been fully expressed in the Finnish announcements
Hard going, even for the Mineral Man
The band was magnificent, and angry, and the fretmen took over vocals as best they could
After the show, some of the 'tourists': Linda and Roland from
Bristol, Titti from Kristiansand, siblings Kate and Ian Hockley
(originating in the UK), Al 'One-Eye' Edelist from Los Angeles, and François
Courvoisier from Switzerland
