Broken Barricades Interval Encore |
Soundcheck notes The longest, fullest soundcheck any fan present could remember One Eye on the Future (instrumental, before arrival of Gary Brooker) 1-2-3 (Len Barry: backing vox by Geoff Whitehorn) Testing thunder, rain and lightning sounds, though we didn't know why at that stage The Blink of an Eye Kaleidoscope (timing of ending, and then instrumental: Gary crosses to the Hammond to advise about a particular registration for the 'Holst' section) A Rum Tale ('loss of the thread' in the transposed section: GW asks a webmaster for the chords!) Taking the Time (work on middle section especially, twice: extended playout) A la Carte (instrumental) Cerdes (Outside the Gates of) ending Bb instrumental Missing Persons (not complete) The King of Hearts (instrumental, then with words, in a habanera rhythm, and not in the habitual key. Matt asks, plaintively, 'That used to be in F [minor]?') |

A remarkable show! |
It was a memorable evening for Jane
Clare, from Bristol UK. On the very verge of emigrating to Australia,
Jane had determined that she wanted to hear Procol Harum in concert one
last time (her first show having been Shepherd's Bush 1995); she and her
aged webmaster father flew to Norway for this evening's show, and she
was richly rewarded: not only did Gary Brooker play a song for her,
announcing from the stage that she was 'about to go off and become an
Aboriginal' ... he also presented her, after the show, with a unique
silver Procol Harum lifebelt badge of the sort that many fans wear
in the gold-finished variety. Both are shown here: Jane reciprocally
gave The Commander the gold Procol badge that she herself had been
wearing. |
