Rootsfestivalen in Brønnøysund Tickets on sale from |
How to get there:
Brønnøysund (ø is a character only found in Denmark and Norway, and can be represented by writing oe or sometimes just o) is located in the heart of Norway, half way between Nordkapp in the north and Lindesnes in the south.
The place, with its 5,000 inhabitants, has flight connections with Trondheim (five daily) and Bodø (four daily) all operated by the small Norwegian airline, Widerøe. You may also travel by train to Grong station, where there is a bus connection with Brønnøysund.
For international connections, in most cases Oslo will be the preferred entry point to Norway.
Finally, if you can spare the time (and money), Hurtigruten will "cruise" you along the most beautiful parts of western and northern Norway for breathtaking views of the Norwegian nature and the famous fjords. And you can make a stopover in Brønnøysund.
Useful links:
Widerøe airline (will also provide air tickets for your full roundtrip at reasonable prices) – cheap flights within Norway usually available in the summer
NSB (Norges Statsbaner, the Norwegian train operator)
Accommodation in Brønnøysund:
The place has only very few accommodation possibilities. If you plan to go to Brønnøysund, booking a place to spend the night should be your first priority.
The festival website suggests the following options:
Thon Hotel Brønnøysund, (to our knowledge already sold out)
