Matthew Fisher – an apology

In an article published at www.procolharum.com on 30 July 2008 (written by Mrs Françoise Brooker) it was insinuated that Matthew Fisher’s claim for joint authorship of the song A Whiter Shade of Pale was founded on lies and that he had lied in his evidence to the court. This statement was wrong and we accept that, as noted by the judge, Matthew Fisher was an honest witness. We regret publishing this comment and sincerely apologise to Matthew Fisher for doing so.

As a founder-member of Procol Harum Mr Fisher is entitled to the same degree of respect as any other founder-member, and it is not the business of a fan website to provide a ‘soapbox’ for anyone wishing to make ill-considered, insulting remarks about Mr Fisher and/or the merits of his case.

For this singular lack of impartiality, we unreservedly apologise to Mr Fisher, and would like to assure him that henceforth we shall pursue a more balanced policy regarding the lawsuit.
