A Load of Balls, 2008

Dave Ball and his kinsfolk in Sydney, Australia

Not content with the occasional European gigs with his Ballbreakers, Procol's Dave Ball recently (April 2008) played a family show in Sydney, Australia, for his Dad's 88th birthday.

BtP hopes to bring you some musical shots of the band, which featured Dave himself on voice and guitar, his brother Denny Ball on bass and singing, his brother Pete Ball on keyboards, Dave's sons Ashley Ball (26) on drums and Alex Ball (23) on second guitar. 'So many Balls on stage at one time!' said Dave. His daughter and her mum Anita were also over from Auckland NZ, and Dave threatened to 'throw Katie (10) on stage for one so she can show off her Grade II piano.' (Procol fans will remember Katie: she was the small girl at the first Palers' Convention in Guildford, 2000).

Dave later reported: 'All went terrifically well: I have good footage of five Balls on stage which is great. The rest of the few days with all of us there was bedlam.'

He sends BtP the following photograph with the caption, 'Ball family doing what they do best'. (Compare this with the Egregious Reprobates photographed almost forty years earlier)
