Procol Harum • Rättvik, Sweden

Saturday 30 June 2007

Procol Harum
Dalhalla, Glistjärna Dalhallav. 201, 79532 Rättvik
with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra., DalaSinfoniettans Choir; conductor David 'Ledreborg' Firman

Dalhalla is an outdoor arena, seating 4,000, all with excellent view and acoustic. Concert-goers should wear leisure clothes and sturdy shoes; there are warm cushions and raincoats to buy and blankets for rent. Umbrellas are not permitted during shows. There are several snack bars and cafeterias: you mayn't bring your own alcoholic beverages.

360 million years ago a colossal meteor created Lake Siljan, one of the only three places in the world where you can clearly see how the natural landscape has been affected by such an impact. Dalhalla's stage is in Draggängarna, a former quarry where limestone mining created a natural amphitheatre – 400 m long, 175 m wide and 60 m deep – a unique festival stage of international repute with exceptional acoustics, comparable to the best outdoor stages in Europe.

The audience gets in two hours before showtime (Procol play at 8 pm). Restaurant guests get in 2.5 hours before showtime.

All would-be concert-goers kindly note: from the parking place to the seats in the auditorium is approximately 20 minutes' walk !

Prices between 190 and 450 SEK, depending on your position relative to the stage

Ticket-sales: Julius Biljettservice +46 775 700 400

Two photographs of publicity materials relating to the Dalhalla concert, kindly sent to BtP by François Courvoisier, who adds,

'The venue is a stone quarry, very beautiful at sunset with a tremendous acoustic atmosphere!  The Scandic Procoholists will appreciate ...'
