Gary
and friends (line-up yet to be confirmed) play the penultimate night of
the
Festival in Chelmsford's Cathedral of St Mary, St Peter, and St Cedd. By its
own admission, 'Chelmsford Cathedral is no vast, vaulted hall. Its qualities are
more jewel-like: small, light, colourful, precious and cherished'. It's very
close to Chelmsford railway station ... click
here for a map. Chelmsford itself is about 40 miles north-east of London.
According
to Chelmsford Cathedral's site, 'Famous as a founding member of Procul [sic]
Harum, Gary Brooker will entertain you this evening with a varied concert of
classics, rock and gospel joined by a few of his friends, a choir and orchestra,
in a performance to include such classic hits as Whiter Shade of Pale,
Peace in the Valley, Adagio (Albinoni), Serenade (Elgar).
The line-up is confirmed as Gary Brooker (piano), Michael Bywater (organ), Mark Brzezicki (drums), Frank Mead (winds), Matt Pegg (bass), and Geoff Whitehorn (guitar) (thanks, Franky)
Showtime is 8 pm (although one of the official websites claims it will be '2200 hrs' this is not correct). Tickets are priced at £21 (most with a good view of the stage), £16 (view from some seats partly blocked), £10 (distant view of stage) and £6 (restricted view only). Floor plan of the Cathedral is here
