Here is a little review about the Procol concert at the beautiful Burg Klam concert that Procol started, followed by Manfred Mann's Earth Band and Joe Cocker.
The concert opener was Bringing Home the 'Schinken' and the rain started!
Gary's voice was incredible strong throughout the whole concert. They played the hardcore setlist (Pandora's Box, Conquistador, Grand Hotel, Salty Dog, Homburg, Whiter Shade). At the song Grand Hotel Gary changed the words to 'Tonight we dine at Burg Klam'. He joked that many years ago they dined from silver plate and ate rare meats and now they only get 'Frankfurter Würstel'. Also on the list was Beyond the Pale, Simple Sister.
From The Well's on Fire CD: the powerful VIP Room, Old English Dream. Kaleidoscope was one of the encores. My highlights were Something Following Me and the great Alpha!
Gary introduced them with the words: "We were always a blues band although we don't look like a blues band." Hopefully Procol will re-record this strong blues number.
I hooked up with pianist and componist Peter Skorpik (left, above). He could join the band for dinner after the concert. When the concert was over I was wet from my head to the toes but the biggest Procol fan from Austria didn't care!
Thanks, Wolfgang!
