Good news from Zurich! Procol Harum is in very, very good form. They played a fantastic last concert of the continental leg of their European tour. The band was very tight and gave us a really strong set. It was the fourth time that I saw them in concert (after 1974, 1976 and 1992), but I have to say that the current band as a unit is the best edition of Procol Harum ever. We had a great time tonight in Zurich. The concert was sold out (some 1,200 people at the Volkshaus!), and the whole band was in good spirit, with Gary talking and joking a lot. Obviously, they really enjoyed playing for us and the fact that this was the last night of a long five-week tour. Cerdes was the highlight of the evening, and Quite Rightly So a great delight.

Apart from some pieces of German, Gary also talked with us in very good French. Obviously, there were some people from Geneva yelling something at Gary which I could not hear. But he immediately answered in French ("De Genève, très loin"). At one point in time, Gary also welcomed everybody from Morges (which is a small town in the French-speaking part of Switzerland). Someone asked: "Where is Morges?" Gary said: "Yes, where is Morges, good question," and surprisingly continued with: "C'est douze kilomètres de Lausanne" ... which it actually is. So we knew that Gary really speaks good French and really is into Swiss geography. Judging from this really extraordinary Zurich gig, I think fans are in for a wonderful PH concert next Friday in London. (thanks, Ernst! [thanks, Werner])
