'Leaving for the Coast'

The Palers' Festival in Los Angeles, 25–28 July 2003

'Beyond the Pale' would like to thank all the following for their parts in making the Palers' Festival such a memorable event ... over and above the playing of the music, of course, which was done in fine style by those depicted below:

• Allen Edelist and Jill McMahon for making the Palers' Festival possible, by dint of local research, buckets of ideas, practical arrangements and logistical solutions.
• Jeremy Gilien for providing a lovely rehearsal space, many instruments, and a well stocked fridge.
• Gothic Harris for transport and other local expertise.
• Richard Beck for printing and Donna Roberds for calligraphy.
• Don Milione for hiring the Kurzweil, and chaperoning the RD 700 as well.
• John Crouch for happy trails.
• Lloyd Kermode for the loan of a very nice bass guitar.
• Linda and Titti for their forebearance!
• Pat and Allen Edelist for hosting and feeding the Sunday morning session.
• Laura and Evan Edelist for opening their home to us all and hosting a marvellous party on Saturday night.
• Dennis, our Saturday night chef.
• Kerry Holloway and Jen for taking care of merchandise.
• George Lovell for a very engaging and witty talk about the Lofty Procol Peaks of his concert-going career.
• Neal Fischer for his enthralling DVD presentation, and for making advertising banners.
• Chris Copping for his good wishes and for letting us hear his new pieces inspired by Proust.
• Lora McLeod at BB King's Blues Club, along with Yemen, Kari, Kristin and Tabitha; also TC and Vince at the sound desk
• Apeneck (Lloyd, Roland and Gary G) for their blues and boogie set during the Sunday night gig.
• Pat and Al in Encino, and Martine and Lloyd in Long Beach, for giving Roland a bed.
• Paul Holland for goodwill!
• All our friends in the Palers' Band for their good-humoured company, musicianship and dedication.
• Jill McMahon for concert co-ordination.

• Procol Harum for topping the guest-list and playing at the party.
