July 25:

Many visitors to 'Beyond the Pale' will know the name of Martin Clare, a frequent contributor to the site, a major Procol fan, and a member of The Palers' Band. He was a music teacher (guitar, piano, flute), and very sadly he unexpectedly died on 3 July, aged 55.

His family (including one BtP webmaster) has launched a charitable fund, raising money to continue Martin's work, by helping to provide music lessons for the young people of Fairford UK, where he lived.

Click the links to read some of the speeches from the Memorial Celebrations (which involved almost 300 people) and see some pictures (yes, there is Procoloid content).

If you'd like to make a donation – of whatever size – in his memory that would be lovely, and would really help to further something musical and worthwhile.

A correspondent writes:

During the week I have been listening to a couple of newly bought CDs with Phantom Limb. I recall that it was [BtP] who recommended PL to me some time ago. Why it took me so long to make this modest investment, I don't know. But I know for sure that I should have followed your advice a long time ago. I am really impressed by their music, and I'm in love with Yolanda Quartey. What a smooth and powerful voice. So, I really want to thank [BtP] for that recommendation.
