Tour dates

'Disc and Music Echo', 8 January 1972

Procol Harum are set to make their first-ever major British concert tour later this month, and the event will be marked by the release of a live album, recorded last year during the band's American tour.

British tour dates, on which Procol are joined by Amazing Blondel, are Birmingham Town Hall (January 19), Newcastle City Hall (21), Manchester Free Trade Hall (22), Bristol Colston Hall (23), Portsmouth Guildhall 24) and Sheffield City Hall (25).

No London date has been planned because it is hoped to stage a concert later with a big philharmonic orchestra.

The album, as yet untitled, was recorded last year in Canada when Procol appeared with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Da Camera Singers Choir.

Because of the success of this recording, plans are under way for a British TV special along the same lines, featuring the band with orchestra and choir.
