Here's a scan
of the 5" x 8" handbill for the Toronto Procol
Harum concert on 5 October 1968. It was originally in two
colours, orange stock with dark purple ink. The
intersection where the Rockpile used to be (you
can barely read it just below the Rockpile text) is Yonge
and Davenport (the rest are clouds, not letters). I remember sitting on the floor at the front (I was l6) completely in awe of this band. I already knew the first album backwards, and was surprised by the extra verse in AWSoP. This concert made them my #1 source of inspiration. David Knights's bass head blew during Cerdes. I remember a roadie taking the old head away and plugging David back in after much fuss. You can imagine that Cerdes really lacked the bottom end when it was missing for a half a verse or so. My memory that far back is a little hazy ... what I do remember was that they were going to be my favourite band for life. Many thanks to Doug Callowhill for sending picture and memoir to 'Beyond the Pale' |
