Celebrate Walpurgis!

Leonard Boehm (Chico, California)

This fateful day, as the first few degrees of Aries gathered upon the 1945 calendar, saw the demise of one of the world's most hated dictators. The leader of the Nazi Party, which had terrorised the world and brought untold horror to mankind, was now dead at his own hand in a bunker somewhere in Berlin. Neither the Russians nor the English nor the Americans would have the satisfaction of holding this creature up to trial. He committed suicide on Walpurgis Nacht, the eve of St Walpurgis Day which is celebrated on May 1st in the Fatherland.

Somewhere near Camp Lejune in North Carolina a young Woman Marine was combing her hair and getting ready to go dancing at the officers' club. On this same fateful night, she would meet a flyer and conceive a child who would come to love a rock and roll group called Procol Harum, who recorded a song called Repent Walpurgis. This child, conceived as the Führer departed, is none other than me, Leonard Boehm. That's history, folks!
