Christmas Conundrums 2000

Treasure trove !

Over the twelve days of Christmas 2000 you collected thirteen alphabetical letters, being the initials of various places one had to visit in the (adapted!) pages of 'Beyond the Pale' as part of our Christmas Treasure Hunt.

Those thirteen letters (see below) spelt 'Men at Internet', and re-arranging them gave rise to 'Entertainment', a word that occurs just once in the Procol oeuvre, preceded by the word 'unique' … which was the answer. If you had been in any doubt, the obsessive use of the word 'unique' on all the puzzle pages should have given you something of a confirmation!

Congratulations to the eleven winners, and commiserations to many whose answers came in later … we had all the winners within the first hour. Particular thanks to those who kindly took the trouble to write in saying they'd enjoyed the fun, or found it 'devilishly ingenious'.

Remember … only 353 days or so to wait before it all starts again.

The double-letter in the last dose may seem clumsy, but hardened puzzle-fiends will realize that I used a 13-letter word to forestall pre-emptive guess-work based on surveys of all the 12-letter words in the Procol canon.
