Journey's End : album-words

Not This Time • checked for BtP by Matthew Fisher

Thanks to the kind co-operation of Matthew Fisher, BtP is proud to present the authenticated words for his 1973 solo-album, Journey's End   I used to be a loner
I didn't need nobody
It seemed to me that the best way to be was just by myself
And I laughed at the guy who suggested that I might someday need some help

But now it's not so easy
And every day the world's a little harder to take
Ooh I don't think I'm gonna make it this time, oh no

I used to be a traveller
I travelled 'cross the ocean
The world was such a gigantic place; there was a lot to see
Take a boat, take a plane, it was all the same so long as I was free

But now the world seems smaller
It's closing in and pretty soon it's gonna break down my door
Ooh I don't think I'm gonna make it this time, oh no

I used to be ambitious, waiting for the big time
But just one taste was enough to know that my dreams were wrong
Just the lies and the aches of a million mistakes that went on far too long

And now I'm in the corner
I can't go back and I haven't got the strength to go on
Ooh I don't think I'm gonna make it this time, oh no
No I just don't think I'm gonna make it this time, oh no
You know I'm sick and tired
And I really don't think I'm gonna make it this time, oh no
