We hope this facility saves Palers some time searching out places to stay.
Two hotels are specified on this page. The Palers' base camp will be at the first one, but plenty of fans will be at the second one as well
Hotel Jarvis, 253 Upper High
Street, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 3JG: base camp for Palers.
'Beyond the Pale' has booked 20 rooms of Jarvis's 46-room capacity (we would have booked the whole hotel had it been possible).
As of beginning of agust, all rooms vere booked. But due to a cancellation of another (not Procol related) group booking, we now have a block of 15 more rooms available for a limited time. If these get sold Jarvis will be booked by Palers only during the weekend!
Procol fans who want to stay at the heart of the action should send a mail to BtP and we will make the booking on your behalf. This saves you dealing with the language and the time-zone difference. Note that these rooms are booked by BtP as a group booking, so in fact there is no help at all in calling the hotel.
Make sure you specify in your mail which nights you want to stay and exactly what sort of accommodation you want: see details further down this page.
Double bed room for 2 persons: GBP 45 for each person, including breakfast
Twin bed room for 2 persons: GBP 45 for each person, including breakfast
Single room, Double bed or twin bed room for 1 person: GBP 70 including breakfast (weekend)
Single room, Double bed or twin bed room for 1 person: GBP 75 including breakfast (weekdays)
These discounted prices are of course for each night.
All rooms have en-suite facilities, mini-bar, telephone, TV, Tea / coffee maker, hairdryer and trouser press (!) and all major credit-cards are accepted.
Conditions: If you cancel a
reservation for any reason later than 5.

The Sports Club Bar (see illustrations) at the hotel is expected to see many fan get-togethers during the Procol weekend.
To book a room at Jarvis, you should e-mail BtP and we will forward all your information to the hotel. You must state full name, number of occupants and desired room type. And of course, most important: date of arrival and departure. We will confirm your reservation in good time before your travel, and you pay the Jarvis Hotel when you check in (you don't pay anything to BtP). You can book at Jarvis by mailing us here.
The Jarvis should be a well-known place to many Palers, as this hotel was selected for our base camp (after recommendation by the Commander himself) when Gary Brooker and Friends played their charity concert in Guildford in 1998.
Jarvis is located in the centre of Guildford, and within reasonable walking distance of the Festival park.
Here are some Palers in eager conversation at the Jarvis Hotel's Sports Club Bar, December 1998.
A lower-price alternative to the above hotel
Parkway, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 1UP, Tel: 01483 304932, Fax: 01483 304935
This hotel is located directly opposite the park where the Festival takes place. Don't expect great luxury here, but decent clean accommodation in en-suite rooms. The rooms can be used by one or two persons, and the room price is only GBP 40.95 each night. They even have a few rooms suitable for a family of four, still at 40.95. Breakfast and other meals are NOT included and can be bought at an adjoining restaurant, where the also have a bar which closes at 11pm.
No group booking was available to BtP at the Travel Inn, so you have to call or FAX them yourself if you wish to stay at that hotel. Many rooms were still available when BtP called the hotel and we know that Palers have already opted to stay there.
