Sam Cameron's Procolpaedia

J

JETHRO TULL
Once a huge prog-rock success fronted by one legged, be-fluted and wild-eyed Blackpool-born Ian Anderson.

Matt Pegg has played bass with both bands. Procol and Jethro members played football at a house rented by Chrysalis before the Isle of Wight festival 1970. Procol toured as support to Jethro Tull in their first incarnation and again in 1993.

JOHN, ELTON
Talented hair-grower and million-selling singer-songwriter from Pinner, London. Has a beautiful garden.

His bassist Dee Murray was briefly in Procol in 1977. Elton was very enthusiastic about Butterfly Boys on a review show on BBC Radio 1 in 1974. He said something like 'Gary Brooker comes up with these fantastic chord progressions and Mick Grabham is a good friend of mine'.
