Sam Cameron's Procolpaedia

D

DAMNED, THE
Comedic UK punks with one-note singer and ludicrous false names in abundance. Captain Sensible went solo and used Matthew Fisher as engineer including on an album. Like Matthew the Captain comes from Croydon.

DONNEGAN, LONNIE
Pre rock and roll role model to many of Britain's 60s rockers with his skiffle music often featuring cleaned up versions of Leadbelly songs.

Gary played on his later work and Souvenir of London is surely a homage to Lonnie.

DYLAN, BOB
Singer-songwriter, fairly poor motorcyclist and on-off Christian, undoubtedly the rock person most subject to academic analysis.

Beyond any question Bob's surrealist period was the biggest influence on Keith Reid's early writing. A Christmas Camel bears some (musical only) resemblance to Bob's Ballad of a Thin Man.

Keith's message for Redhill, as read out by Gary, contains a reference to 'blood on the tracks', a Bob Dylan album title.
