Procol Harum at Englewood, USA

Ken Stasion reports •  15 July 2012

Procol Harum played a powerful and flawless set. Gary was fantastic, his voice sounding as powerful as ever, his musicianship and showmanship
displaying unwavering mastery. My fave was Wall Street Blues, just a great song to kick it off. Whitehorn's solo was just killer: one of the best guitar
solos ever. Steve Vai and Jeff Beck would turn their heads on that one for sure.

While it was mostly a YES audience, Procol were very well received, and why not? These two top bands go way back. For sure I would love for
Procol to top the bill but this pairing is just wonderful I remember November of '73 when Procol did top the bill.

The only dour note, so to speak, it was abysmally hot in the theatre. It was a scorcher of a day in New Jersey and I guess the air-conditioning was maxed out . I heard it was stifling on the stage too. Well, with Gary being Stronger than Samson, you just brush it off.

I thought the mix was wonderful. The whole band was spot on. Matt in the pocket, with no issues and sounding so melodic. Dunn was amazing, my second time
experiencing him and a solid, powerful performer with just the right touch of rhythmic quirkiness to keep it fresh. Phillips was just right in the mix, cutting through with confidence and authority. Another memorable night with the greatest band ever and the seminal prog rock band. SHINE ON BRIGHTLY forever!
