'Too Many Poets'

She Wandered Through The Internet (Macrobiotic Nostrum)

Key to authors' pseudonyms

She wandered through the Internet
online casinos paid her bets
search engines searched her mystic terms
she scattered viruses and worms
and though she was a pseudonym
and could have been a her or him
with carpal tunnels in my wrist
I subscribed to her mailing list

and before I could disconnect
she charged my credit card for sex
my trackball twirled and jerked
my cookies told her where I worked

she showed up at my cubicle
she said I'm only virtual
I took some Prozac from the shelf
and said I don't feel real myself
I tried to scare her with a cross
she said I think I hear your boss
I hit alt-tab to change the screen
and woke up in a different dream

and before I closed my eyes
she fluttered through the pearly skies
I was left alone to grieve
but at least I knew I had sick leave
