Procol Harum at Oslo, Norway

Jens's pictures of the band soundchecking

The ever-smiling Geoff is posing for the photographer

Matt Pegg looking at something across the stage:
probably the Commander is saying something to him.

The synth is a Roland VK7. Matthew tells BtP that he'll use it for electric piano in Fellow Travellers and The Question, xylophone in Shadow-Boxed and French horns in Robert's Box.

In the front row: Matthew Fisher's lovely wife, Carol, and Jutta from Germany. Carol was travelling with Matthew on all the Norwegian concerts: read her comments here. She enjoyed them very much, and was pleasantly surprised to see how well Matthew's Weisselklenzenacht was received by the audiences. Standing ovations, even though webmaster Jens was probably the only one in the audience besides Carol and Jutta who had heard the piece previously.

This picture is taken from the position where the band enters the stage. The theatre looks empty now, but was sold to about two-thirds capacity when the concert started.

Preparing for the soundcheck: Mark adjusting his cymbals while
technicians are busy readying the stage.

Chris Cooke giving some last-minute messages to Gary Brooker: the latter seems more occupied with his sheet music. Minutes later Gary started the band on War is not Healthy, something he had promised Jens over a drink in Skien the night before. This unrecorded piece was added to the setlist two weeks later in Zoetermeer on the eve of the Iraq invasion.
